And I apologize for my tardiness.

Not only did I walk around the bend the next day, I wandering forth, up, over, down, and back up. Two hours of exploration. And thinking. And my biggest takeaway was the idea that I was on the hunt for "just the right house" in which to set a new project. And I found several possibilities, which I've since tossed out in favor of a hybrid of two crumbling mansions in a different, equally affluent neighborhood.

So, the answer to your question, harry, is, around the bend were several half-formed lumps of clay that were considered and dismissed for their direct artistic merit. Compost, you might say. Now ripening to its ultimate reincarnation.Suzy Vitellohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12836144962952322322noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30074355.post-49456789439894802922015-05-16T16:55:52.925-07:002015-05-16T16:55:52.925-07:00Okay, when you posted this a few weeks ago, I was ...Okay, when you posted this a few weeks ago, I was down with the mystery of it.
What IS around that bend?A
Did you find out? I've been wearing little Izzy out with our long walks, because every bend in the path seems like an invitation to something new and wonderful. Yesterday we saw a bald eagle. Love that.

Angle of Repose is one of those favorite books I'm saving to read again. I'm also saving Lonesome Dove for a re-read. If I think about all of the love stories out there, the one that breaks my heart open every time is Brokeback Mountain. Not necessarily the movie, though the movie is gorgeous (and oh man that last scene with the shirts in the closet) but more the short story by Annie Proulx --- I have read it over and over again.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30074355.post-76474221499951434012015-02-11T15:26:15.409-08:002015-02-11T15:26:15.409-08:00This from Jennifer Murphy: My two favorite love s...This from Jennifer Murphy: My two favorite love stories are The Lover by Marguarite Duras and The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera.Suzy Vitellohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12836144962952322322noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30074355.post-23587945483014961762015-02-09T15:30:12.963-08:002015-02-09T15:30:12.963-08:00Ooooh! the Luminaries and Strange and Beautiful So...Ooooh! the Luminaries and Strange and Beautiful Sorrows are now on my list. More recently, Eleanor Catton's The Luminaries is many things, but it's a love story at heart. And it's definitely an epic. The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender is about three generations of women whose loves lead them in unexpected directions.
